Kinsale Community Response to Dementia (K-CoRD) is one of four pilot projects being co-funded by the Irish Health Service Executive (HSE) and Atlantic Philanthropies, through the Genio Trust until 2016, to develop services that will support people with dementia to remain at home, active in their communities.
Our project will stand as an example of how people with dementia can retain more independence and control over their own lives and remain in their own homes in their own communities, connected to family and friends.
The learning arising from our innovative project will lead to a transformation in the way we think about, respond to and care for people with dementia in Ireland.
“Through providing appropriate community supports and services we aim to increase substantially the numbers who can remain at home and living active lives in their communities. Members of the public, whether affected directly by dementia or not, will play a huge part in making this project a success."
K-CoRD is delighted to be working with Genio and the other three pilot sites; The 5 Steps to Living Well with Dementia in South Tipperary; Community Action on Dementia in Mayo and Living Well with Dementia (Dublin).
